PhotoDynamic Therapy™ (PDT)
PDT is a specialized treatment, during which a light sensitizing substance is applied on the skin (5-aminolevulinic acid or methylevulinic acid), that is activated by daylight or by a special produced wavelength light.
PDT is a method used to remove any damage caused by the sun or actinic keratosis, fine lines, color abnormalities or even to shrink skin pores. It regulates the function of the sebaceous glands, improves persistent acne, rosacea and some acne scars.
How many treatments are required?
In most cases, such as actinic keratosis, one treatment is enough for a very good result. In some cases 2-4 treatments might be necessary every 1-2 weeks.
Period of safety
After the treatment the treated area may become scaly for 2-7 days, the skin can become reddish, some swelling may appear and darker color on the brown spots. These are temporary and last for a few days.
